Artist Portfolio   You are an art lover. You go to art gallery openings and enjoy the social aspect as well as the art on the walls. You may have inherited or were gifted a piece of art. You may have a piece of personally selected art in your living room. But, you seldom come home with a new purchase. You may have a $30,000+ car but are reluctant to lay out $500 for a piece of art. Car dealers are lucky. They can site transportation practicality, while urging you to add $10,000 more for luxury features. All buyers are multiple-motivated by ambiance, persuasion etc. Art buying is unique. It’s difficult for the buyer to summons a hard practical motivation. Car dealers can summons practical and aesthetic arguments. Interpolate some of those car dealer persuasions into selecting art. Consider TRANSFORMATION practicality. Blog post # 1 By Sibella  Hello artists and lovers of art, my name is Sibella and this is my first blog post with The Gallery Swarm Blog. First, I just wanted to tell you a little bit about myself and then more about my current project.  I was born and raised in Bosnia, a small country in south-eastern Europe, where I received my BA in art and education. I’ve been an artist since childhood days, with quite a long break during the war years (in Bosnia) and then refugee life in Germany and the United States.  Finally after settling in Indiana, I started painting again in 2006. I put a lot of time and effort into studying soft pastels which are one my favorite mediums, but I love to paint in pretty much any medium depending of what kind of ideas develop in my mind. What do you think of your gallery exhibition openings? What is the gap between how you view your art, versus how you explain your view of your art. It’s difficult because, after all, you chose visual art, a nonverbal, and now you have to explain it back into words. Some are glibber than others, but the universe of words fails to explain the universe of art. Is the potential buyer looking for sofa art or soul art. Each is legitimate, and no one has to apologize. In reality, any piece of art will have to fulfill its aesthetic meaning as well as a deeper meaning. The needs of the artist and client must be filled. In the catholic world of art, explaining this distinction will establish the aim of THIS painting or sculpture. Everyone will be happier if they understand the dynamics of the gallery opening.
